outer spring plate cover cap

Hello,

I just received a pair of hollow sway-a-way torsion bars for the rear of my '84 911 and realized that I'm missing the caps for the outer spring plate cover on the right side; outter spring plate cover part # 901-333-153-00-M260.

Do I really need to order a set of spring plates in order to get the missing cap?

Thanks,
J.

They are pressed into the spring plates but you can just get a rubber slide over cap for the tube too. BTW you may want to delete the link, it shows all your personal info.

EDIT: opps I just remembered this cap holds the torsion bar in, I removed mine and machined it for a spring clip so I could remove my bars like the SAW spring plates, I have the old caps somewhere, you would have to insert them then peen over the edge to hold them in. If I find them you can have them.

You can get individual parts by calling a Pelican sales rep. I recommend Glenn at X240. Or you can buy a used one from one of the many dismantlers. I recommend Parts Haven or DC Automotive.
If you're talking about just the dust cover, I'd go to the dealer since you're in Canada.

Oops, I see you've already spoken with Jason. Call Sway Away would be my next move.

Any ideas what this cover is 'officially' called so I get the name right when talking to local dealers and/or sway-a-way?

Jason from Pelican seemed to indicate that it wasn't something that could be ordered since it didn't have an individual # in a porsche "PET" diagram...

PS. Edited my initial post and removed the link to my personal information...thx for the heads-up Craig!

Are these stock spring plates or the SAW plates that use the red plastic cover? I was thinking you had stock plates but using SAW bars only?

This diagram shows PN 35 to be the one you mention It's called a housing or bushing housing. On PET 901 333 153 is PN 29. There is a left and right. You can get these used all day long.

Is that what you're after? Get new bolts for both sides. Just a recommendation.

I have everything that's contained in that diagram. What's missing from the picture is the small cap that fits over PN35 to ensure no dust gets into the tub. It wouldn't be a big deal if I was using solid bars, but I'm using the hollow versions from sway-a-way and worried that they'll fill up with dirty/grime over time.

I seem to remember that the dust caps are hard to find. I used something from the hardware store. Google snap on caps or similar and source them from someone completely unrelated to Porsches.

I Googled "snap plastic caps" and got this amongst a whole slew of hits:
