Trouble installing front hood shocks
I recently bought a couple of new shocks for the front hood of my 74' 911S, and now my mechanic is having a hard time installing them as they don't seem to collapse enough, making the rear of the hood to somewhat rise...
I guess the shocks are ok, as they appear to be the same for Model Years 65-89... Is there any trick or something that the mechanic should be aware ? Thanks |
never had that problem. can you (or the mechanic) push them down with body weight somewhat? i seem to remember hood shocks that are new are a beaotch to plunge down. i simply hooked the bottom and then clipped in the tops. the leverage from the lid will plunge the hood shocks easy.
maybe find a new mechanic? this dude know 911's? |
This should be a simple job. I just replaced mine on the Targa. Very obvious how to do it, the most difficult part being attaching the pin to bottom of the driver's side shock, it's very tight in there. I can't understand how your mechanic could be having issues provided you got the right parts. . . maybe double check the part number or do a bit of research.
