When did BBS wheels first appear on Porsches?
A question about vintage 911 wheels. :)
Intrested in the history of the early BBS wheels on 911s or Porsche race cars. In the early 70s were BBS wheels on long hood 911s too? afaik the oldest 911s with BBS wheels were mid 70s RSRs and later 935s. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1244869423.jpg When did BBS became a 911 race wheel option? Did BBS start as a race wheel and then later expand to street cars? fwiw BBS RS 16 inch rims converted with new shells to 17 inch diameter. 17x13 and 11s. cheers. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1244868948.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1244868969.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1244868986.jpg |
BBS was founded in 1970 and originally produced fiberglass parts for cars. They didn't make their first wheels until 1972 - so longhoods were most likely not fitted with BBS's by the factory.
I did a quick search but couldn't find anything more specific. The first Porsche I remember seeing them on though was the 934. |
