Air Filter Question: '71 911T
I just pulled the air filter out of the '71 911T I just purchased and it looks different from the picture Pelican has posted on it's parts page. It's the same shape and everything... but it has a metal mesh around the outside of the element. Also, the rubber rings at either end are red instead of black. At first I thought of K&N because of the color... but the K&N filter doesn't look to have a metal mesh around it either. Anyone know what the deal is? I'd hate to discard or replace a reusable filter... if that's, in fact, what I have.

All of the stock air filters that I have seen have the wire mesh and the red/orange ends. I think that there are filters with black ends but I have never seen one. I have a 70T. Has same filter as 71T.

That makes sense, Gary. Thanks. I'm new to early 911s and just noticed that the pictures on the parts page looked different from what I had. I just wanted to be sure.
