Wheel/tire fitment issues - pics - pls help diagnose

I recently wrote about problems with tire rubbing on the front with 205/55/16 Hankooks on a 7 inch fuch. The passenger side is rubbing badly under compression. The driver side is also doing it but to a lesser degree. It is getting so bad that it is starting to bend the wheel well inside lip.

I'm really surprised with the amount that the passenger side tire/wheel sticks out from the wheel well.

I'm thinking it may be a wheel bearing issue given the amount it sticks out.

It looks too severe for just being a camber out of adjustment problem.

Passenger side - compare to the other side

Driver side

I just went through this on the front of mine. Have 7" et 20 rims with stock tires and rubbed badly on the driver side. The problem with mine turned out to be the left front fender was in 1/8" more than the passenger side. Factory fenders and never in an accident. A little tweaking on the fender and it's all good now.

Thanks - I really think there is something wrong with the wheel or the hub.

Switch wheels and see if there's a difference. I realize you may have unidirectional tires. Just curious about the backspacing on the wheels. Are they definitely a matching set?

Probably the fenders like gtihop states.

Did you jack the car up and shake the front wheel to see if the bearing is loose?

Is it too low? May need a higher ride ht.

It is not to difficult to adjust the front for max camber.

If it has not been done, use a heat gun to scrape off the sealer around the strut tops.

Mark there location, loosen the allen bolts, push the strut all the way in and back. This will give you max neg camber and caster. You can do this with the car on the ground by using a short pice of 2x4 and a hammer against the round strut top. You do not need to lossen the shock bolt.

You may need to correct the toe end of this fixes it.

Then, you can then take it in for an alignment and tell them you want the max balanced neg camber and caster you can get with zero toe.

At least that is what I would do.

You can shake the front wheels with the car on the ground. Just put both hands on the top of the tire.

PSS, the lower the car the more neg camber you can get but you do not want the fender lip lower than the top of the tire.

I have max camber on the front of my 85 and the front fender lip at 25.25" with Dunlop 205/55/16's and stock suspension. I have taken it to several track events and have had no issue.

Does anyone think that moving to a 205/50/16 might help?
