Pic request: Backside of fuel/oil level gauge

Can anyone please post a pic of the backside of the fuel/oil level instrument. I am having some strange behavior with the oil level gauge. The issue is that, when turning the ignition on, the gauge automatically goes to the top. Even when I disconnect the white/green signal wire... I suspect a bad mass but would like to doublecheck by verifying all connections.

Car is a 78 SC if that matters, thanks!

It sounds like your sending unit is bad.
Sorry I do not have a picture.

That could very well be but that wouldn't explain the gauge going crazy when I disconnect the signal wire, correct?

Thanks, I have the same manual and it seems connected like that but on top of the instrument backside, there is a connection with a ground mark next to it which doesn't have a wire on it (And I can't see that in bentley)
That's what I want to check.

When the sender goes bad it removes the circuit path to ground ( or from ground for the techs) you will be doing the same thing when removing the signal wire from the gauge. if you were to ground the wire at the sender with everything else hooked up your gauge should deflect somewhere other than the top. Someone with more posts or experience will answer your question though, that is what is so great about Pelican..

Here ya go, nothing hooks up there. At least my car has never had anything hooked up there.

Thanks for the help crustychief, yet something I can rule out... I'm going to disassemble the gauge and see if this can be fixed somehow, otherwise it'll be a new one!
