Window trim strip flaking!

My black door trim piece at the top of the door by the window is flaking to reveal to chrome below on my 78 targa. What is the best way to restore this piece?
It seem difficult to remove. Any thoughts..........
Thanks,
Ben

My trim is flaking also (from a 12-year old repaint). I am tempted to lightly sand, mask and paint the frames with Wurth's Matte Black paint and be done with it. I did this with my windshield trim piece and it looks great and has held up well for about 3 years now.

Hit the trim with some bulldog adhesion promoter first then paint it as normal, this stuff will make the paint stick to anything.

Yes, prep and primer are the 2 keys. I use XIM sealer/bonder. I had a SS Targa bar last well over 10 years and it was good when the car sold. My paint was Rustoleum because at the time, I didn't know about Wurth. Rustoleum may not be as good as it used to be.

There are more than one product that will work superbly, but I used 400 white in spray cans. Can't find those on the site, but they have them and show a pic.
