				S wheel trim mounting

Hi, Does anybody know if the early (1973) S trim aluminum wheel arches used any kind of backing before mounting? I don;t like the idea of metal againt fresh paint. As well it seems there should be something in between to keep the water from collecting in there. Thanks, Joe | ||

On my 73S they were riveted on at the factory. Nothing underneath.

my 73s didn't have any. I think that was an additional trim option.

For sure, and I think dealer installed in many instances. That would explain why I've seen it screwed rather than riveted.
