Flattened tow hooks
I've got my eye on an '87 Carrera, but it's been brought to my attention that the front tow hooks have been flattened. I was wondering if that implied the car had had some front end impact, jumped a median, etc. or if that's just normal wear and tear from encountering low driveways and other obstacles for the past 20 odd years. I haven't seen the car for myself yet, but was also told that the driver's side footwell had been "pushed up" near the jack point. Perhaps the car has been jacked incorrectly? These things tell me that the car has had some rough treatment. Am I overreacting?

These things happen... get a big ass bench vice, clamp it on the tow loop and bend it back. Beat the floor panel back in to shape with a rubber mallet.

I think flattened front tow hooks are pretty standard on 911's of that era. Mine were bent (but not flattened completely) on my '86 Carrera and I am confident that the car never had any crash damage or major damage.

This is normal as other guys have said. there are aftermarket hooks out there that are more rugged. Or you can reinforce them yourself if you have a bit of scrap metal and a welder.

I think this is just a way of life for these cars, when I got mine I had the same flattened hooks but everything else looked good. Just bend em back down with a big adjustable wrench and maybe a little hammering to get them nice and straight then some black paint (spray can) and your good to go.

id be more concerned about other crushed things under there like the oil and a/c lines
