AC fan question

since i got my car the fan knob for the AC fan has not worked. I removed the rear compressor long ago.

I must have left the AC fan knob in the on position and today, when i pulled up on my heater levers between the seats like i do everyday, the AC fan came on for the first time and at the same time that i pulled up on the heat

2 questions:

1) are the heater levers connected somehow to the AC fan switch or was this a coincidence?

2) is it ok to run the AC fan even though the rear compressor is not hooked up? im getting a decent flow of air and i would like to use it from now on

thanks

I know of no relation between the two systems. Are you sure it's the evap. blower in the smugglers box that comes on? That fan just pulls air from the floorboards and blows out the dash vents. Ok to run I think but you are just recirculating the air. Ken
