Help on Turbo Tail question....

I had to replace my whaletail & engine cover after being rear-ended...ouch. I decided to go with a factory Turbo whaletail & engine cover which fit fine with one problem. The grill opening in the engine cover is much larger on the 930 than the SC. My guess is because of the intercooler...

My problem is that the entire engine is now exposed under the mesh covering in the tail. I would think this is a serious problem, but I've read where another SC owner has left the engine exposed and experienced no problems. Is this possible?

I don't want to fabricate some sort of cover. I'd just as soon go out and buy an SC engine cover with the smaller opening.

The question is do I HAVE TO?

A Turbo spoiler is larger than a normal Carrera spoiler. The lid has a bigger opening to accommodate the intercooler housing under the spoiler itself. There are no problems in having such a spoiler on a Carrera or SC. Rain will pour down into any 911 engine regardless of spoilers or no spoilers. Mine stalled in rain when I just got it. Replaced the distributer cap and rotor. Problem solved...

I can back that up. Although I have a standard Carerra decklid with a Turbo whaletail added on, so there's a standard vent underneath the tail.

I had a small problem with "wet engine syndrome" until I replaced my distributor cap and rotor.
