fitting baby seat in rear of '96 993

I bought a "porsche prince" seat for my 18 month old son at the weekend, but the seatbelt used by the rear seats is too short to install the seat properly. does anyone know how to get round this problem? can i make the belt longer or is there another make of car seat that fits the rear seats without squashing the little man?
