original equipment ?

How would I find out what options came on my car from the factory?. Do I need to contact the factory in Germany or somebody in the States?.

You can call Porsche North America (I will look up the number later today) and get an honest to goodness Birth Certificate for your car. It outlines all the data of your car: options, date built, and I hear, but do not know, has the names of the folks that built her. Sounds kinda fun, huh? Look here for that number later tonight (Monday)

You get an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper with your vin number and ordered options. Nice, yes. Worth $40 bucks, Hell no. Names of people who built your car? Even if they did, what are you going to do, Call them? I did it and would suggest anyone else to spend the money on a useful part.

The records for options etc. were pretty sketchy for the earlier cars.

The "cardex" certificate is worth it IMHO if you wish to have documented evidence that the engine # matches the car; beyond that, it's just another piece of paper...

In my efforts to gather some knowledge if my car was in compliance, Porsche Cars North America in Atlanta Georgia was kind enough to contact Germany and verified my VIN number, my engine type and number, and my transmission type and number. They also verified that it had leather seats at assembly. They did not charge me for this.

Check your VIN plate (or owners manual if you have it) for your option codes and look them up either on http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp
or in the back of Bruce Andersons book
