Leakdown testing
I am interested in an 87 930.
I am conciderring going to the next stage which is I guess getting the experts say... Proto Tech have a look at it. What should I ask them to do, leakdown test!? and what other major things should I get them to do and how much or how many hours should it take to tell me if it is 'a dog' or not. The car has zero history except the 'car lot salesman' (they're a dodgy breed http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/frown.gif ) says that the engine was rebuilt a year ago by 'Buch Stokes' of Ft. Lauderdale/Miami - anyone heard of him ? It has had some money spent on it at some time as there is an aftermarket intercooler (He says Andial!) and an electronic gizmo which may be a variable boost control. Engine sounds smooth to my uneducated ear but a bit oily (Oh no not again says Warren!) It has had a front end bump whichs is still visible by an upward crease infront of the fuel tank under the condenser fan. What might this have also damaged in the process!???? Car is going for $27,000 Could be opening up a whole bag of worms. Okay tell me the worst! thanks Ben |
