Flasher Relay Keeps Clicking
The flasher relay in my '73 911 keeps clicking, even after I release the emergency brake. I think this relay controls the hazard lights and also the red flashing e-brake light, when the e-brake is pulled up, right?
For some reason, when the car is started this relay just keeps on clicking even after the e-brake is fully released. What could cause this? |
Thats funny...mine just started doing that also, the light goes out but the relay still clicks...but very slow  Ron

Probably a short in a switch or wiring harness somewhere. Go to the relay, and with the ignition on check each lead for power. Trace back to the other devices in line and you will find the culprit. Then simply disconnect/wiggle/tap on the switch /relay causing the problem to see if it goes away. If you have added any aftermarket stuff and it got wired into this circuit it may be providing the problem. It appears from the wiring diagram that the headlight flasher changeover relay and the warning light relay are both in the circuit, as is the headlight switch and of course the warning light switch. The diagram also shows the warning light relay as being a solid-state unit, so you will not have any luck tapping on this, but it is a good place to start looking.

gumby, what was your solution? i am having a similar problem and can't seem to be able to track down the solution. thanks in advance.

I will have to do some tracking down of what is causing this problem but in the mean time , my solution was.....I removed the bulb and it makes the circuit open and no more clicking, ta da...;) Ron

unplug the wire from the pressure switch down on the master cylinder. that's not the brake light switch.
