Where are the horns located?
OK, I give up. When I press the horn button I get a very anemic meeeeeeep from only one of my horns. Would like to replace both but can't find the darned things. Anyone ever replaced their horns on a 964? How do I get to them? Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Mike 94 C2 cab |

I believe they are in the extreme right hand corner of the front bumper, near the front right wheel. From the front of the car, lay on your back and slide under the car until your head is almost to the front wheel. They should be right above you. If I am correct about where they are located, they are accessed by taking off the front bumper. The wires just plug into the horn and can be unclipped easily. The horns themselves are just bolted into a bracket.

MRM,
You are correct. There is also a horn relay on the fuse panel. May be worth checking out too. Nick. |

Thanks! Looking up through a grill opening in the plastic underbody-cover immediately in front of the front passenger wheel, I can see a horn, waaaaay up there. It looks like it may be accessible by removing the fender liner. There is not one on the drivers side.
Two questions, shouldn't there be two horns, or does just one horn play both tones simultaneously? And, are the horns adjustable for sensetivity (at high rpm, if I lay on the horn for a while, the second tone will sometimes chime in). Perhaps theres an adjustment on the horn itself. Thanks again for your help. I'll probably dig into it one evening this week. Best, Mike 94' Carerra2 Cab |

The horns are located just behind the ears and extend forward and inward. HaHaHaHa...

Remove the fender liner, loosen the oil cooler radiator mountings..not the oil lines...move the radiator to the side and you'll be able to service the horns. Sounds like relay problem or possible dirty connections or bad horns. They take a lot of weather and splash down there and can fail.
