Guess my car's weight for spring plate install

Please help me guess the weight of my car.

I found this excellent article on how to set the angle for the 'droop' of the spring plate :-

http://www.rennlight.com/cgi-bin/spring.cgi

I will be installing 26mm bars and Sway-a-Way spring plates to my 73T, but have no real guess at the cars weight - I need this to plug in to the formulae.

It is a US Spec 1973 911T with the following weight changes :-

Overriders and all 'S' trim removed
ST Seats and TRS harnesses fitted
Removed all rear interior sound deadening
Removed rear seats
'RS' door panels fitted
Webers and SSI's instead of MFI and Standard Exhaust :-)
Rear T45 Cage

If the above makes no real difference to standard, then what standard weight should I use in the formulae ?

Thanks

Ian

I don't have a weight for you, but look in the PCA racing rules. There should be a weight listed there for your car.

Go to your local waste transfer station or truck weigh stop and hop on the scale...

yes, just weigh it

that is Thom's article BTW

take 2,340 and subtract the rest - should be < 2,300 for a DIN wt. spec. but you need to add the driver

Car has no brakes or suspension installed :-)

I need the weight for Thom's formulae to install my suspension so then I can drive it.

Looks like 2300lbs as a start - thanks.

Yes indeed, thanks to both Wil and Thom :-)

Pictures and write-up when I get to it, probably a week from now.

The calculator works well but is very sensitive to correct weight.... try to get it weighed somehow.

Wil

The car is up on the lift and has no suspension or brakes installed at all - i.e. a bare floorpan.

I have installed the banana arms, and want to install the TBars and Spring Plates next.

I have no way of weighing the car (or moving it at all) so just wanted a good guide as to the angle I should use to do the first install before I lower the car to the ground.

It will go for a full corner weight and alignment at Tuthills after that.

Ian

Just be prepared to do it twice.....the whole reason for coming up with the methodology was because you heard of all the horror stories needing to do it 5 times to get right. I noodled the numbers and time has shown the method to work well as feedback reports indicate. Maybe you "should have" weighed the car beforehand, too late now it seems.....the numbers given you ought to be pretty close but it is best to get real car weights for this process. Just a caveat.
