Regarding replacing the "omega" spring
I just finished replacing the "omega" (clutch helper) spring on my '78 SC and I thought I'd post this for anyone replacing this spring on an early SC.
Most descriptions of this repair tell you remove the circlip on the clutch release shaft then remove the short clutch release lever and the longer clutch cable lever (which holds the omega spring); what they don't tell you is the early SC's (and probably prior) long cable lever has a "keeper" pin which must be driven out with a drift before the lever can be removed from the shaft (later cars do not have this pin). The pin is obvious when you're trying to remove the lever but none of the descriptions of this repair, that I had read, mentioned it and I didn't know (couldn't tell) how it should be removed. It took a bit of research to find a somewhat oblique reference to it in (of all things) the "Haynes Manual". So ... it's just a "friction" fit pin; drive it out with a drift. Hope this helps someone. Thanks. That's on "to do" list.
