Before and after pics of 85 Carrera... (adding script)
 

I have recently had my car repainted due to a bad job of spotting in a spot which was a different color. To make a long story short, it was very difficult to match the paint so opted for a complete respray. What I did change for a different look is added aftermarket wheels in 7" and 8" x 16" which I had painted to Victory Red and Falken 451's in 205/50 and 245/45, then most recently the Carrera script. I really like the look, but even with my friend Tom's help, I screwed up the insall on the script as there are several air bubbles that I could not squeegy out. Not sure what I did wrong as we misted the body and script with soap water and aligned but still have several bubbles....bummer.....I am planning to give it another go...Anyway, here are some before and after pictures. I have kept the original Fuchs black along with my other tires in the event I get tired of the look and want to change it back.

I suspect you can prick the bubbles with a pin, and squeege them flat.

Nice look!

You can use a small 'very sharp' pin to poke a hole in the bubble to release the air - if it bothers you. If it is fluid filled, give it a few days - it may dissipate.

Wow, what a difference!!! It took me a few minutes to soak in the red wheels but I think it looks great.

A ducktail would cap it off nicely.;)

same here. in the first pic at first glance i did not feel the wheels, but after the second pic with the tail lights in view and a few mins of staring they really grew on me.

as stated the pin is your friend when it comes to decals.

Use an exacto knife....smooth with a bondo blade or credit card....

I helped Craig with the installation - having done the GT stripes on my '65 Mustang, I thought I could assist in a really nice job....
Unfortunately, we ended up having a really hard time. It is what I would call a good 10 footer - but if you looked closer, you would notice a bunch of small bubbles. I mean way too many to start using a pin or Exacto knife to pop them and smooth them out.
Having just had a nice paint job applied to his car, I can't see how this new script will suffice :(

Mike Z at NBDGraphics supplied the script and true to his word....
 

I just wanted everyone to know Mike Z has agreed to send me another set of Carrera script. He is true to his word in covering installer screw-ups and I also wanted to confirm this is not a product issue, but rather an install issue. Only thing I can figure is that it was very hot today here in Georgia and the water/soap mist possibly dried to quickly allowing the decal to adhere before all the bubbles could be squeegy out. Anyway, I am going to take Mike up on his warranty and have the next set professionally installed so the results will be much better.

My hats off to Mike Z and his product! :)

I think your '85 looked awesome in the b4 shot. Sorry but IMO the red script and wheels don't do it for me. Personally I think if you lose the script and go with the black+polished fuchs your car would look outstanding. For reference on what the polished paddles look like here's Jacks Black Beauty...

David...I know exactly where you are coming from, but wanted somthing a little different this go around. All my mods are easily changed back to the original configuration or if so desired, I could do something else completely different. That is why I did not make anything permanent or at least difficult to "undo". Thank you for your candor and I too love the look of Jack's car.

Craig, I think it looks outstanding! The color scheme is very cool, the new change makes your car stand out from the crowd. In my opinion, I wouldn't change a thing. (unless you get sick of it of course ;) ) Besides, isn't modifying our cars to look better a goal we try to achieve? It was my pleasure to have helped you out!

I'd go with the Stealth Grey....very popular and NOT a stock color from Porsche.

Sounds like you got great service on the decals.

The red wheels look a little "bulky" in my opinion, but maybe red anodized would calm that down and look real nice. Still, nice work, and if you like it then keep on going!

Paul571.....The color is Meteor Grey Metallic with slightly more silver/pewter added to the mix. The painter is a friend of mine and cut me a deal, but he routinely charges $3,500 to $4,500 for a similar job, depending on body condition, prep work, etc.

Craig, good on you for trying something a little different and thinking outside the square. I think the red looks great, particulalrly from 3/4 rear where it picks up the reflector strip.

The best thing is that it is so easy to change the look of the Fuchs without spending a shed full of coin or without having to have a huge wealth of knowledge and skill. I recently changed my Fuchs to the RSR paddle-look and am very happy with the results (just make sure you use quality paints and prepare well - my first attempt wasn't a roaring success). All up it probably cost me about $60.

In a year or so I am going to change my script and wheel colours, but have yet to decide what colour, but I plan to make it somethinga little different too.

I really like the Meteor Grey with the red scripts and centers. It's a striking sports-purpose look. Bold move and good thinking.

The fun about vinyl? You can change it.....go for broke, do crazy stuff. I did 15 changes in 8 years, I even color matched the wheels. Rattle can Krylon and aircraft stripper for the wheels is an easy change....

The wife and kids still think I'm nuts.....

Mike - I was very impressed with everything you included with the decal kit.

I ended up putting the silhouette Porsche on the back glass of my 1500 pickup - we decorated the rear door of Porsche shop with another decal - put one on a ATV and another on a scooter that is used at Road Atlanta.

With that body and wheel combo.....black. Unless you want to go wild, then Gulf Orange......and match the wheels.

This might be a bit much for you, but if you're going loud anyways... consider a windshield banner in solid matching red across the top of the windshield. In my opinion that would bring a little (a lot) more red to the top of the car and tie it all together.

Also- what color is your fan?

Nothing personal but I much prefer the original look. Never could understand the script idea or the coloured wheels. Don"t see other exotics ie Ferrari, Aston Martin etc with "scripts". Personal preference I know.

Paul, my fan is gloss black. Believe me, I strongly considered having the fan painted red to match while I was having the wheels painted....But, when I tire of the red and put the black Fuchs back on, the gloss black will be more suitable. SmileWavy

What's cool is that the banner is actually functional and will keep the sun out of your eyes.
