MSD 6AL for an 87 Euro 911??
Thinking about upgrading the ignition on my 87 911. I've read a lot on our host's site here about the MSD 6AL being the right choice for an upgrade for my year car.
I wanted to ask for an update from everyone if this is still the preferred choice. Thanks in advance for your advice.

It's a fine choice, apparently much more reliable that a Permatune, and hugely cheaper than a Bosch replacement. Don't expect to find a smoother more powerful engine though; it pretty much just does what the Bosch did before. So I'm not sure I'd call it an upgrade, more like a replacement. (Others will tell you that it made a remarkable difference for them; I've never seen it.)

It may depend on the condition of your ignition. Pairing the MSD up with a blaster coil is a good idea

Thank you both for your comments/suggestions.
I now see the Blaster Coil as two types; Blaster 2 and High Vibration. Which would be the correct one for these cars?

Now, anyone know where some detailed MSD ignition instructions for a 911 might be found... I found some for a 914 and an older 911T, but nothing around an 87.
Anyone?

The installation instructions should be in the tech articles.

MSD on an 87 911? Won't work as that car uses Motronic, not CDI.

Here's a question to ponder....just what kind of Porsche ignition sub-standard condition are you trying to solve?....
