Early Door Panel Ideas
I'm after your thoughts on door panels, my 69's door pockets are long gone, and the arm rests aren't much better. The cost of replacements is prohibitive, to say the least.
I like the idea of a door pocket and the RS America door panel. So i was thinking about a 67 style door panel, with the pocket that runs from front to back with the vertical stitching incorporated into a RS America style door pull. Has anyone done it? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hey
I reproduced my door panels in 4mm ABS sheet from Bunnings - use the old one as a template. This makes a completely waterproof panel and you don't have to add a waterproof membrane. Then i upholstered the lower half in perlon carpet to match the floor and matching seat fabric on the upper portion. As you can see, I added a USA 'passenger' door pull to the driver side to match the Aussie passenger side. I deleted the door pockets all together. If you don't want to do it all yourself, appbiz seems to have everything you'd need to create what you want. ![]() Cheers

Len, right hand drive cars have a door pull on the left (your driver) side. That's what I've done, so I have the same look and usability on both sides.
Randy, the interior has gone through a couple of iterations, but is no roughly where I'm happy. This was taken just after I'd finished re-upholstering the interior with the wife's sewing machine... my first go. Not perfect, but got me by for a few years. ![]() This is where the car is now (the under dash wiring is now much neater), the seats are Nurburgrings. I was going to re-upholster these seats with the matching interior cloth I chose (basket weave velour), but the corduroy that comes with the seats is so nice I've left it alone. ![]() Cheers

Thanks John. It's that neat looking pebbly texture on your door panel that I'm interested in.

It's a basket weave velour fabric I found... I can mail you a sample of it if you like?

Has anyone had any luck adapting door pockets from a later S or SC to an early car? I too would like to keep some pockets, but would prefer not to replace the entire panels and arm rests if i could avoid it.
