3.6 conversion questions
 
OK I have aquired a 3.6 993 motor (Varioram) minus the intake and exhaust system, so it is a long block, complete.

I already have a set of 50mm PMO carbys, which I was going to use, for now I will not play around with the internals of the motor, it is in good condition.

Apart from the flywheel to mate to my 915, can I do the following...

1. I have a MSD, can I run 2 of these with the 993 or do I have to go another type of ignition?

2. The engine mount brace, is there a special one of these I need to mount it to the 3.6 to the 911?

3. The CIS fuel pump, can I use this with a regulator on the 3.6 or do I need a new one....

what other gotchas should I be looking out for, any help apprciated.

The CIS pump will be way too much pressure for PMO's.....Why not go with the stock 993 induction? It's pretty good......

the engine came without induction and I already have 50mm PMO's + I want carbys anyway.

the distributor has no trigger mechanism in it for the msd, so... you need to decide how to go twin plug
there are aftermarket dizzies that will slip right in and run the msd
I think Steve Weiner (Rennsport systems and posts here on pelican) can mod your dizzy to accept a magnetic pick up in it
there are aftermarket crankfire units, with or without their coil packs

engine mount- it depends on the budget. If tight: the std 3.6 mount when modified to fit a G series chassis should be cut , angled to meet the standard mounts, and reinforced. Keeping the engine sheet metal from the 3.6, you will have to lower the engine in the chassis. Seen several people using washers or machined spacers for this , the other "bad things" about this approach is little room for traditional muffler set up and it looks dodgy from the back of the car seeing the motor that much lower in the chassis
If budget is good and/or your fabrication skills are up to par, then you can modify the early engine mount and sheet metal to fit the 3.6 (or buy the surround kit, in fiberglass, from smart racing) You will need a different crank pulley as well. This will enable you to mod the std 993 heat exchangers and use a modified early two in muffler together.
As you are going to carbys, you will be in good shape with regards to room under the rear window tray.

Sounds like you will end up with a pretty quick and fun car
