Help me make a choice....

I have an 84 911 3.2 and I am starting to see signs of the alternator or voltage regulator acting up (tach dropping out and coming back, max voltage about 13.8 volts while running unloaded, 12.5 lights and AC on).

I am soliciting Pelican as to whether I should get a Valeo or Paris Rhone rebuild.

BoschUSA says Paris Rhone was standard on that 84-89 as AL401N for new or X for rebuild.

I have heard bad about Paris Rhone but just curious about the experiences out there.

Maybe take yours to an alternator shop and have them bench test it?

Could just be the voltage regulator (although I think you would see high voltage), which is a cheap fix.
