southeast US swapmeets...when and when are they?
Ive always hear of the hershey and california and pnw area porsche swap meets so where are the south and south east area swap meets and when are they held? also, how do they compare? thx.
|
I dont know but someone needs to start one, Hershey is great but the drive sucks and pulling a trailer makes it worse, although I will go back.
Regards |
If you guy's consider Louisville Ky the south east I wouldn't mind having one....lord knows I have enough "stuff" to get rid of.
|
count me in...atleast to shop. let open it up to calendar ideas.
|
Count me in. Maybe you could use Louisville Downs as the site - close to you, lots of space and easy to find.
|
I would suggest ATL or Charlotte as it is more central to the SE than KY. ATL is only about 8-12 hours from S. FL and I know a half dozen guys with storage lockers of crap to get rid of ;)

I tried to get one started here in Charleston. Charlotte or Atlanta would be good locations.
|
Ill start looking around atlanta albeit not local so if anyone wants to help look, make a post and lets get a big one together for late fall-early winter just in time for winter projects or next spring-summer. also, what would be the best dates as to NOT interfere with other events or would it be better to wrap it around something like the mitty or any other road atlanta, pca, or races...any thoughts as to where or when might be best?

That place that specializes in 914s owned by George(???) in Marietta had one a few times. It just kept petering out I think. He would probably host. He was trying to do it every week I think, needs to be once a year probably.

I went to Hershey for my first time this year and will go back again. I would think Louisville is a good location for many because of the location. I will be there again this year at the end of the month for the Street Rod Nats. |
Euroworks in Greensboro NC hosts an annual BMW/Porsche Swap meet.
Last one was in February. http://www.eurowerks.us/defaultNew.html |
Any or all of the sugestions sound good to me, all are in reasonable distance, Ithink a friend went to the 914 guys shop this spring with an invite to the 356 group, sounded like trying to move out of a storage building or 2.
Will stay tuned Regards |
I was thinking late September early October...the weather wouldn't be as humid as it is this time of year and it would allow guys to try to get the parts together for those winter projects.
|
I'd be up for something in Atlanta, Charlotte or Charleston for sure. I appreciate all the good folks around Louisville posting but for me the WAF just plunges on trips that length.
|
count me in for a meet in GA also.
|
If there was one in the Atlanta or Nashville area I would be there also.

Dave Brown at Speedwerks, Thomasville, NC has one every summer, usually in August. |
not sure how complicated it may be but Im calling road atlanta today to see if it might be wrapped with another event already ongoing. It will cut cost of startup and can piggyback some already budgeted advertising plus give something else to do after swapping all the junk around.
anyone a member of georgia pca who may be able to help make it happen?? atlanta seems the ideal south east venue as location is central. keep the feedback coming... |

Hey folks,
Just over a couple of hours from Atlanta lies the Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama where in one week the Porsche 250 will be held. A good swap meet piggy-backed onto the 250 weekend would make a lot of sense. And for those that have never been to Barber you need to come check it out. The facility is one of the best in the world, and the crowds for the 250 get bigger each year. Your wives may even want to come to see the likes of that pretty-boy actor Patrick Dempsey race, who knows? Check 'em out at www.barbermotorsports.com |
