The 996 wheels only fit 964s and 993s. Pre 964 911s have different offsets.

Can spacers or adapters compensate for the difference or are they totally incompatible?

You can use spacers but they would be huge (over 30mm) and not approved by Porsche. Also, the wheel would stick out too far. I have not done this but I think others have done it with mixed success.

Those look like 993 widebody offsets. Are you sure it's 11x18? I'd think it was 10x18. In any case I'm going to say you'll need at least 40mm spacer in the front and 30mm in the rear. As a result these wheels will stick out alot from the wells and the large front spacer will not be safe. TUV and Porsche only allow 30mm max on road cars. Perhaps someone who has done this can comment?

I have oversized wheels on my Porsche..
It's a 77. I have 18x8's up front and 18x9's in the back... The front wheels should fit with some simple adjustments but my rear wheels are flush with the fenders and there is only 3/4 inch clearance between the inside of the wheel and the fender wall. I can't imagine a 10 or 11 inch wheel would fit unless you went with Turbo flares and an outrageous spacer.. I run 225/40/18's up front and 255/35/18's in the back.. Hope this helps.. It's not really apples to apples... Pete 77'Carrera3.0 ------------------ www.geocities.com/pcafaro2000/carrera30.html |

It's possible to buy aftermarket Porsche replica wheels with correct offset in 18 inches. Maybe that could be an option for you? I know that you can get the Cup2 wheels in 18 inches and probably also the twist spoke wheels plus of course the Turbo 3.6 looking split wheels.
