What do you think about this deal
I've got a fella near by selling a set of 3.0 to 3.2 pistons and cylinders from a 930 turbo. The kit was purchased from Andial and one of the pistons has marks from a valve (dropped?). The set has less than 5000 km (thats like 3500 mi.). The cylinders are 98mm so I can just drop the piston set from andial in there for my application. The asking price is about 1000 Canadaian (650 US). He is going to get them measured so I can see if the rings have seated (anyone know how long it takes ring to seat?) I'm just looking for any type of advice that you can offer on wether this is a good idea or not. The engine is apart so it won't be a hassel. Thanks

Adam,
I don't think the resulting compression ratio, around 7.0:1, will make for a very pleasant engine, either powerwise or responsewise. Those Nikasil cylinders can be honed, and you could get a set of 9.5:1 JE forged pistons for them, but that will be another Can$1000 or so for you. That doesn't sound like a very good value to me. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
