SAW Spring Plate and Aluminium Arm photo needed

I have finished up fitting the SAW Spring Plates and Aluminium Arms to my 73T, but know I need a longer Eccentric Bolt, and also want to check the location and orientation of all nuts, bolts and lock washers.

Does anyone have any detailed pictures please ?

Ian

Can someone also confirm that with the SAW plates and the SAW bushings, you dont need extra spacers between the torsion bar cover and the stand offs on the body? Im trying to mount mine and there is a gap of 2-3mm under the torsion bar cover. Help is appreciated!

Mr P

Thet are as sorted as they will get for now :-)

I have an issue with getting the RH Torsion Bar far enough in to the outer spring plate to get it all centred across the torsion tube, so may have a problem inside the plate that I cannot diagnose - Tuthills will do it when it goes there for a setup before I drive it.

Where are you by the way ?

Ian

This may or may not help. Disregard the brake bleeding paraphernalia.

AFAIK, there are no add'l spacers or washers under the TB cover.

I have observed that the factory torsion bar splines are a tight fit into the SAW spring plate splines. The solution was to reduce the OD of the TB slightly so the bar can slide fully into the spring plate. Apparently, the SAW torsion bars fit fine w/o this modification.

A trial fit on the bench will confirm this. Avoid the sledge hammer.

Hope this helps,
Sherwood

Could be because the spring plate isn't fully seated against the chassis, which could be because the torsion bar is not fully seated in the splines. Check all. Check w/o tb in place to isolate.

It looks like a stack up issue with the urethane bushings and the 2 SAW plates. Looks like together they are all too thick. I may need to grind on the TB tube a bit. Maybe some clearance issues. Ill dive back into it this weekend!

I think the most likely is the explanation of the splines on the TB being a shade too big to fully fit in the SAW plate.

I will let Tuthill remove them and 'make fit' by the 'reduce the TB diameter a bit' method.
