Diff between WEBER 40IDA and 40IDT????

Hi can anyone tell me the diff between the Weber 40IDT to the 40IDA? Bruce Andersons book says that my 77 with a2.7 would be better with properly set up 40IDA is there any differences performance or fit with the 40IDT's? # on the carbs is 40IDTP13C.

The 40IDT was made for the early T model and had small venturis and jets and the idle mixture screws are set-up for fine tuning for lean running. They have a finer point to them which I suppose helped emulsion of the idle mixture or something. You can change all those things easily but the parts get expensive when you have to stray so far from its original spec. The core carberetors are pretty much identical though, it's just that you'll have to change so much that it might be better to start with one set up closer to what you need.
