Starter Wire

DOes anyone know the best place to find a hidden spot to cut my starter wire for an alarm installation on an 82 SC? I can't determine which wire from the key cranks the starter, even with the wiring diagram. If anyone knows the color or destination of the wire, I can track it down.

Thanks,

Olivier

Check out this Pelican tech article for what might be a simpler solution.

I don't know if the tach trick would work with your model (although it seems simple enough to check), but the fuel pump kill switch idea might be a good route.

Olivier,

On the following diagram, the wire you are looking for is the yellow wire going to terminal 50 of the solenoid, not the yellow one going to the cold-start valve from terminal 15a.

Thanks for the help. I am looking for the starter wire, because I plan to also leave the factory system in place and controlled by the aftermarket system. My understanding of the factory alarm is that it cuts the fuel pump when activated.

Warren, I saw that wire before, but dismissed it because it seems to go to the heater ventilation switch in the diagrams.

Olivier,

Well, it does drop off at the heater ventilation switch, and the fuel pump relay ... but the #50 lead COMES FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH! The #50 lead goes off page to the right until it terminates on the following page:

Thanks, Warren. I guess that's what was throwing me off.
