Removing Dash Center A/C Vents

A couple of the lovers are flopping around and no longer connected when I shift it left to right. How does the unit come out so I can see if I can fix it or replace it?

I'm not sure you should bother a couple of lovers who are flopping around

you can actually remove each of the two vents individually.

Start from the center use a screw driver gently and pop them out. No need to remove the whole unit. There is a a wire in the back that holds all three lovers together.

It sure would be nice to buy these parts individually as a whole new center vent costs about 95 bucks.

Once you ge them out it is really easy to understand. Ill run out to the garage take a photo of mine that are out. One has all the parts and the other is busted.

here is the pics.

Maybe you and I can work together to track some parts down. I only need one vent side.

Maybe we can split one.

both of mine were missing that little wire. I found one of the wires back behind the dash when took all the blowers ect out from behind the dash in the front trunk.

Rebuilding the wires that hold them together isn't that tough. I had a lot of fun rebuilding the small tabs that the wire connects to on each of the louvers. Just hope you have a drill press and some brass or other metal to help rebuild it...

i had a broken flappy thing so i used a little dab of JB Weld on a toothpick and glued it in place, straight. no need for me to go left and right when my AC is out. looks fine now and cant see the glue because its same color as the vent

My car was setup similarly.
With a couple hours work and $40 in parts you can get fresh air out of those buggers.
I'm happy with the results; cabin is much less stuffy now:
