Upgrade front brakes for 74 911?

My front brakes need replacing (cracks in the rotors) and I would like to upgrade to something a little better. Does anyone have ideas for me? A friend mentioned that the brakes from a 74 Carrera would be a straight bolt on.

I'm putting '85 Carrera calipers on the front of my '72E. They will bolt onto the '75 struts I'll be using. You do need to use Carrera rotors since the Carrera calipers take a thicker rotor.

careful on what you have on your 911. The 74 911 came with small T brakes. Measure the bolt spacing on the caliper front mounts. If it is 3 inches then you will have to either replace the front struts with 3.5 " S style or find some adaptors to fit the SC or Carrera calipers. SC calipers will work with your existing vented rotors. Carrera (84-89) calipers will work with Carrera rotors only.
