Friedrichshafen, Germany, P Parts Location

In several weeks I am taking a business trip to Friedrichshafen, Germany. My question to the German P fans on the list is there a local Porsche Parts business that sells new/used parts in Friedrichshafen? I am looking for 3.2 Piston/Cyl big brakes (Reds), etc. A general question with the Dollor/Euro exchange is there any advantage in looking for parts in Germany?

Any leads, phone numbers (email adress??) will be appreciated.

Go to www.berndfuhrmann.de and join the www.ecircle.de Porsche e-mail board. Ask your question there and I'm sure they'll give great advice.

Don't think you'll have any luck with parts around friedrichshafen but while you're there you can go to the auto salon in Singen (top of the lake) for a look and they may be able to help you. Also you are deceptively close to Stuttgart and Munich where there is likely to be a lot of activity.

In Friedrichshafen visit Pier 40 bar in the town - no Porsches but a good laugh - and say hello to Sille (the bar owner) for me. Tell him we'll be back in August again.

Great place for a laugh - enjoy yourself

I travel to Europe quite often on business and unfortunately, besides the Dollar not being as strong as it was some time ago, more importantly, prices in Germany are very high.

To top it off, everything you bring back with a value of more than $400.00 carries a 10% customs duty tax on the overage.

The only advantage to shopping for Porsche parts in Europe is that you might find something you can't find here. I don't think you'd effect much saving, though.

Hope that gives you some guidance.

I second that.

I live in the UK but travel resonably frequently on business to the US & Germany.

On the whole you can't beat the states for price.

Which seems crazy when the parts are shipped past us.

The driving is great in Germany. Enjoy your trip.
