Angry snapped cable, sunroof stuck shut.

As the subject says the cables for the sunroof have snapped while in the shut and lock position. I've removed the motor and the bad cable but I can't get the roof to slide open.

Secondly with the roof completely shut I can't even pull back the headliner to access the over center lift levers on the snapped cables.

Help.. Naturally this had to happen at the start of "Porsche Season"

I then could remove the liner cover ect...Let me know how it goes!!

Hey John. I read your reply. But it still doesn't make sense. With the roof shut all the way you can't get in front of the liner to snap it down.

What am I missing?

There is enough room at the front of the sunroof panel to pry it down without sliding it back. I used a putty knife covered with duct tape to try to keep from scratching the paint or ruining the headliner. Get the knife up under the sunroof panel and pop it off the four clips that hold it to the sunroof itself. From there you can get to the entire mechanism - cables and guides.

Awesome. I'll try that tonight. The putty knife thing sounds a bit scary but I think it might work.

Thanks for all the help and the quick replies.

Unhappy

Carloe,

Better stuck shut than open. I once had a 928 that did that. Talk about mechanical surgery!
