Received Mag-bra. . .disappointed
Received my Magbra today. Arrived in a flimsy flat box and contained an envelope with clear and simple instructions, and a pair of magnetic guards for under the headlights. In a large vinyl pouch were two magnetic vinyl covered sheets.
The material is much thinner than I expected, I'd say maybe a millimeter thick +/-. There is a cutout for the Porsche hood badge. Unfortunately, the cutout is a bit too high on the bra preventing me from installing it without overlapping either the hood badge, or the end of the hood (a no-no if you don't want it to blow off). Considering the price, I did not anticipate the need for taking a scissors to the thing, so I didn't. Additionally, the two protectors for under the headlights are not even a close fit. They do not conform to the shape enough to adhere to the metal. . .don't think they'd stay on above 25mph. Even if they did stick, they leave so much metal exposed that they look rather silly. They are cutout for headlight washers which I do not have, adding to the silliness. I'm wondering if they sent me the wrong bra for my car. I made it quite clear when I placed the order which model of 911 I have, and asked the gal to repeat it back. I'll be calling them tomorrow and will post a follow-up. Hopefully their customer service will make up for my lack-luster first impression. Mike 94 C2 cab |

Mike,
You must have received the wrong model. I have one on my '74 and it has been great for many years. I even do track events with it on. I have lost one small "under the headlight" protectors and they sent me a new one. One of the big pieces cracked after several years and they replaced it. Give them a second chance. JT |

OK, just got off the phone with the very nice Mag-bra person. They did, in fact, send me the wrong bra and she was very apologetic. My car is a 94 964 C2 and they sent one for a 95+ 993 C2. . .easy enough mistake considering the 993 first appeared in Europe in 1994.
My only concern is that the main hood pieces are exactly the same. She suggested that I go ahead and carefully trim the material away at the lower edge of the hood badge. Perhaps my badge is mounted a bit lower than standard? It's the original hood and has never been painted or damaged, so I doubt it, but I'll get out the exacto knife and tweak the fit. She's sending me the correct wing pieces today. Another concern is has to do with heat. I live in Georgia and will be using the black Magbra on a black car. I plan to remove it when I park at work on hot sunny days, but, is this necessary? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks, Mike 94 C2 cab |
