Smog Pump noise

I have a '79 911SC, The other day, I heard the smog pump making a louder noise than usual. I disconnected the belt from the pump, before it got worse.
My question is are there any adverse affects from running the car without a smog pump, for the time being?
I thought that I would wait until my next smog test before I put a new one on.
I am due again in February for the test.
Thanks

I ran a '77 for years w/o the pump running except for smog tests. The only problem is they cake up inside. You might try putting some cleaner/lube in there. I can't say that I know what to recommend.
