front mount oil tank venting

i did a search and found good info on moving the oil tank to the smuggler's box but what about venting? it sounds like putting the catch tank/vent in the front trunk is a bad idea due to the oil smell entering the interior. the race cars i've seen run a vent hose along the roll cage inside the roof to the engine compartment. i won't have a roll cage so this is a little difficult to do. can i use an un-vented catch tank and run the vent hose along the passenger floor to the engine compartment? my thought is that the catch tank will collect the small amounts of oil that may slosh up the vent and won't collect in the low mounted vent line. i would have a vent tank with a breather in the engine compartment with the oil tank and engine vents connected to it.
