Supercharger for 964/993

I came across a magazine recently that was raving about a new bolt on supercharger kit that boosts power and torque by more than 50% with a mere 4.5 psi boost. No change in compression ratio.

Is this possible? Boosting air pressure by 0.3 atmostpheres to get more than 50% more power?

Anyway the kit is from turbo performance center and the blower is eaton

Details at www.turboperformance.ws

I found these values to be hard to believe also. I'm sure some performance gain is noticible. I once increased the boost on my old Saab 9000 by about 0.5 psi and there was a Huge difference. I just am not sure if 50% is realistic, they didn't print dyno tests either.

BTW, this was in last month's European Car.

Nick.

Here's the dyno:

I'd still like to see a more honest evaluation done. If what they say is true, and this thing would give me 100 horses and not melt my engine, then I've got my checkbook ready. But the claims seem pretty optimistic, to me.

However, I exchanged some emails with Bruce Anderson, who has seen their Boxster application, and he said the quality of work was good, and -- at least in theory -- this mod wouldn't be any more destructive to the engine than a Turbo.

Jack - I know you're itching to throw more money at your car, but I saw no prices quoted in that article. I'm thinking somewhere north of $8K. Let us know if you find out.

$6,000 plus $1,500 to install. Unlike Supercharging of Knixville, they don't machine the pistons to lower overall compression. They just run lower boost. The results aren't as spectacular as S.O.K., but that might also mean fewer engines will melt down.

Isn't there a theoretical calculation that indicates the max increase in power/torque based on 0.3 atmosphere boost assuming absolutely no loss. I would have thought the maximum ceiling would be 30% increase. No?
