2.7 w/webers intake question
My intake manifolds measure 36mm but the intake on my heads is 35mm. What happens if I dont get them enlarged to 36mm? Will it have any effect on low end torque? If it would improve or at least not make a difference on low end torque but only have an effect on topend power, then I might leave them as they are.Does any one have experience with this? Someone who has run with it as is, then changed? Did you notice a difference driving?

Since you specifically are worried about bottom-end torque, just leave the ports alone. It depends on which cams you are running whether you would see any improvement, anyway. If you had real 'S' cams (from '67 thru '73, only) or GE-60 cams, it would be worth your trouble to match your ports, but then you wouldn't be worried about bottom-end torque with those cams, anyway!

Warren, do you mean that if I had those cams (and I don't- just the '77 S cams), then I would have more low torque as well as more top end power? Or just much improved top end with the same or weaker bottom?
I live in the Ozark Mountains where there are miles and miles of very twisty blacktop with very little traffic. I'm a longtime motorcyclist who is very adept at shooting those curves and I get a big rush out of it. Now I want to do the same thing in this 70T I've got. Usually, even on a scooter, I never get much over 80 in these twisties, usually average 60 or so. I'm wanting this car to come off the corners strong and not bog down if I don't have the revs way up. I'd like to do 110 maybe, but I don't have much use for more. What I'm trying to figure from my posts here is how I might expect my car to run in this environment with what I've got now-- and if it's not correct or can be easily improved (that means without much cash outlay- I can do the work), then what should I do. Perhaps you are the only one on this forum who has direct experience in this? Thanx , Alex |
