3.2 Fan Shaft End Play
The fan / alternator shaft on my 88 911 has ,what seems to me, an excessive amount of end play.
There is a noticeable clunk under light engine acceleration. All of the fan components are tight. I removed the alternator and the play is in the alternator shaft. There is nearly .040" end play. How much end play should there be? Does anyone know where can I find an exploded view of the Paris Rhone alternator? TIA, jcl |
