Moderators working overtime?

So many spammers the last while, the moderators must be very busy.

I mod another board and the past 4 days has been SPAM-FEST 2009. It comes in waves.

zippy_gg 07-22-2009 09:30 AM

Unfortunately it is true on every forum in which I am a member...
Now... don't look at me funny!!! :D

I say hat's off to the MODs for catching most of it before anyone sees it - and for cleaning up so quickly. You guys really make this place enjoyable, thank you for your selfless work.

nineball 07-22-2009 11:11 AM

yep, they are everywhere. on one of the boards i mod at we have been attacked with clothing/shoe ads at the rate of 10-15 per hour for the last few days.

pete3799 07-22-2009 11:24 AM

Thanks for pulling the weeds so to speak.

I thought I understood what spam was,but what is the benefit to the spammer by posting those jibberish posts?

wrx paul 07-23-2009 04:09 AM

I have an app for my blog called askimet that catches ton's of spam. You wouldn't believe how much is out there. I'm still trying to see how if only one in 10 milllion click it, how is it worth it??

David E. Clark 07-23-2009 04:31 AM

Good point about spammers but there's not much 911 technical information in the post is there. ;)

On my forum, I am considering banning all IP addresses outside North America... just so much spam from Russia, China, and Mexico these day. Most of it is just random ASCII characters!

i caught one this week for counterfit nike shoes, i turned them over to nike security. they like that

Jack Olsen 07-23-2009 08:28 PM

It's been pretty heavy lately.

We don't catch most of them -- you posters do.

Never hesitate to use that http://forums.pelicanparts.com/image...ons/report.gif 'Report Post' button. The sooner we can make that crap disappear, the better.

That last one wasn't spam....it was reality.....you dont need the wooden interior to get a woody with a Porshe.

sancho 07-26-2009 04:48 AM

SPAM......there is more and more of it.
I guess every forum has it's fair share.....

BLEW911 07-26-2009 06:10 AM

Even some of our own Pelicans insist on promoting their own T-shirts and stuff. Any self promotion more than a note in the signature is SPAM.
