Atlanta area shop search

Before I call the nearly 10 shops in Atlanta; does anyone have positive or negatives about any of them? (to many to list and I may have missed one)

Home brake job not going as planned so looking for a fair $$ shop that has a good reputation. They all have cudos to themselves on their web pages but I have found talking to previous customers a better source.

Depends on what part of town......I have always used Pro-formance Place in South Cobb drive in Marietta....He has always been fair with me....some don't like him....but I don't like some of the others that some people seem to rave about.

i know this doesn't answer your question but if you're willing to share where you're at with the brake job we could probably talk you through it.

Well i had #6 adjusted perfectly but then just before i tightened it a butterfly in Zimbabwe farted and now i have to start all over again!
I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

Thanks, didn't even find that shop in my search. Looked at the local PCA news letter and one shop from word of mouth.

Have used two shops in the past here, one being a bit expensive.

Brake problem:

Swapping out my street pads for Pagid Orange, very little wear on the street pads but could not pry them out of the caliper, had to remove it from the rotor.

Problem; can not get the new pads into the caliper when mounted on the rotor. Pistons have been pushed back. Can not get the old pads off the other caliper without taking the whole thing off. Both pins and retainer are removed.

Don't really want to rubber mallet the new pads in but I can't find the reason they won't fit?? As I said, pistons are pushed back.

To me, it's painful to pay the same rate per hour for a brake job as you would to have a clutch replaced. Brakes are pretty straightforward, you might want to re consider doing it yourself... espically after you find out what it's going to cost.

Of course I don't know what "Not going as planned" means

my tip for removing is use a screwdriver to pry the old pads out working back and forth at each end of the pad (else you'll lodge it in).

odd that pads won't go back in IF pistons are truly all the way back....wouldn't be unusual to have to tap them in gently with a hammer but i wouldn't do this unless you got them started first by hand.

Car is a 75 911, issue is with rear brakes. Tried the screw driver as seen in, I believe, Wayne's book or online. Not a budge; as above I had to take the caliper off to get the pads out of the driver side. I will try soaking it in WD40 tonight but still don't see why the old pads wont budge??

Would let it sit in the garage and tackle it with a cool head but the next DE is less than a month away.
