autopower roll bar seems to tall?
Hi guys, I picked a used autopower roll bar for my 87 coupe with sunroof.
It seems to me as I am trying to fit it in that it is simply to tall? Has anyone heard of this? I looked around on similar posts and have not read anything similar? Is it possible that this is a roll bar for a convertible? The guy selling said for coups, but..... It is as if it was 1-2cm to tall.... I cannot get it to stand up it just hits the roof and stops? I looked at some installed roll bars - similar in style - and it seems that the mounts on the floor should be close to the rear foot area.... is this correct? There is a # on the roll bar but at the moment I do not have it with me... Any info would help. ![]()

Ok, the number is on the driver floor mount is
6 38 I an have what they call "RACE ROLL BAR" "The Race roll bar is designed for solo, autocross and high speed time trials. All Race roll bars have a diagonal cross brace and most have a harness mount tube".

If it is the one for a non sunroof coupe it will not fit as is. I had this problem with my race car so I simply removed the sunroof tray. I am not sure that this is an option for you. Maybe you can have it shortened.

Yes that is what I thought, I will have it chopped tomorrow.
I wonder if this will change the rear mount angle or location..... so much work for a plug & play!!! Oh well, Thanks for the comment, that is what I suspected. Mike

did you get it to fit, if not you may check the part # and give autopower a call or hit theur web site and confirm you have a coupe bar not a Targa or a Conv bar the biggest diff would be a T bar i think their roof line is a little taller the ones i've parked next to always seem a little taller although i've never sat in one

Not sure that a simple chop will do. If I remember correctly my impression was that i would have to bend it also. I am not sure about this though.

I think now that I have and spent the time prepping it (media blast, paint) I am going to give it a chop - try. If it still doesn't work.... I guess I will start looking for another one and get the good one that bolts into the seat belts.... should have done that to begin with.

I have decided to sell the roll bar..... and by the proper fitting bar.
SO, FOR SALE Autopower NON_SUNROOF bolt in roll bar. Customs mounting plates for rear side of bolts. Media blasted and painted black. This is what autopower calls street/race - so it has the diagonal and cross bars. Thanks
