H4 Headlight Restortion?

I searched for info on defogging cloudy headlights and found several threads, but they were all regarding H5's. Most suggested the alcohol / rice combo "or swap in H4's".

I have cloudy H4's. Is the method the same for H4's? Are H4's and H5's assembled the same way?

Don't know where I heard this but I have seen someone polish their headlights with toothpaste.
I'll have to go through my notes and find my file on that.

You can use some isopropyl alcohol to rinse out the headlights and absorb the condensation. Just remove the bulbs, pour in 3-4 oz, swish it around real well, and invert the assembly to pour it out. Let dry and that usually does the trick.

H4's and H5's are two completely different items. You can remove the lens from an H4 and clean or replace. H5 lenses are plastic, H4's are glass.

I think Steve didn't read this carefully because he knows more than most of us put together. But, if he says you don't need to disassemble to clean, then that's gospel. H5's simply do not come apart like H4's do, so I always took the H4's apart.
