Clint @ Rebel Racing

Anyone here have any contact with Clint at Rebel Racing products?
I was talking to him a few weeks ago regarding motor mounts and pressure plate bolts, decided to order them, and haven't heard anything since. Been over 2 weeks since I made the order, and nada from him. E-mails are unanswered, called and no answer and the voicemail was full, tried to PM on here and his message box was full.

Anyone know what's going on here? I don't mind waiting a bit for my parts, but would at least like to have some idea when to expect them...

juicersr 07-24-2009 05:29 AM

Clint is a 200% stand-up guy. I have dealt with him extensively for suspension components and advice on my cars. However, like most small-man operations, he gets busy at times, and has a tendency to be non-communicative for extended periods. While some may bit$h about this (camgrinder is another example), it's the small price we pay to get hand-crafted parts and personal advice from guys that run these businesses with passion for our cars. Trust that he is getting your stuff ready, and that it will be a quality product. You will receive it, just have patience.

BBShriver 07-24-2009 05:51 AM

Ok, I had guessed from his activity on these forums that he was not a fly-by-night operation, and didn't mean to rag on him, just that 2 weeks with no info at all seemed a bit much.

Thanks for letting me know!

I'm just impatient cause I haven't gotten to drive the 911 all year, and the parts from him are what I need to get it back together right now! At least I have a motorcycle to keep me entertained in the mean time.

Thanks,

Clint is 100% standup, but also a one man show. He'll surface and you'll be happy. I'd suggest you tell him that he's standing between you and driving your car. I suspect he'll figure out a way to make it happen quickly.

Clint did a great job for me on suspension, caliper rebuilds, custom machining, custom tie rods and more.

Clint is one of the best guys to deal with - he also works closely with quite a few big name shops who churn out high end cars so he's a resource who's always in demand.

He's an awesome guy - standup in ALL ways...keep trying him - cuz the parts you'll get will be amazing and worth the wait.

Wish there were more like him around.

BBShriver 07-24-2009 06:59 AM

Thanks for all the replies! only problem is now I REALLY want to get my stuff lol.

My car is in for clutch replacement, and I ordered the Ti pressure plate bolts and motor mounts from him (stock flywheel, but aluminum pressure plate). Without those PP bolts there's not much that can be done right now.. oh well.

Clint is stand up guy 100% even on overseas deals.
He is a bit slow in repsonse but all parts are very very nice and the prices too !

is it only Clint now too? have sendt him e-mails and pm. but no response yet.
need a complete kit for my car

If his situation hasn't changed since I last spoke with Clint he is in school and can sometimes get wrapped up. He makes up for it when he works free.

We need to keep in mind that a lot of these small businesses that we enjoy receiving good quality low priced parts from are small. They don't have an administrative staff and generally there is one or two people doing everything. This is why the prices are low for the quantities of good parts sold. The aircooled specialty parts business is just that specialty parts market. As such it takes a few creative and passionate individuals to bring new and innovative parts to market. This is a small market and we have to accept how these small business might get behind. We can forget that often times is the guy with a day job or a class load who's cranking away on a CNC machine or welder late at night and on weekends to keep buyers happy.

Have faith. Clint is a good guy.

+ 1 Soukus

I can vouch for Clint anytime! Spoke to him before the holiday to thank him for the parts I received. Does sometimes take a few days to communicate but if you dont know his products, trust me the wait is worth it, they are spectacular and extremely well engineered!!

Send an email, voicemail gets cloged up fast

I'm here! Thanks for the nice support guys!

Haven't been available from noon to 4 on MW, or 7am to 11am on TTh. Taking advantage of some labs and extra classes at school so I can eventually get a masters. Also the use of some of their state of the art testing equip comes in handy.

Brandon Shriver, I certainly remember speaking with you a couple of weeks ago. I am confused however because my notes from our emails seem to indicate that you purchased the motor mounts and standard PP bolts from Pelican. Please correct me if I am wrong and we can get it all sorted out. Since we have talked last I did finally receive the certification papers from my Ti supplier so the bolts are ready to ship if you still need them. I will send you an email now so that you can respond to that and I will keep a close eye on my phone so feel free to call. I am missing your phone number so please do call. Thanks.

Hey there neighbor, SmileWavy

Are you using Bonderson or the Aero hangar? I would be interested in meeting you sometime.

Best Regards,

Max Sluiter

911ctS 01-11-2010 05:26 PM

Max,

Hey neighbor. I will be in LA at the end of this week to install some of our suspension components on a very new and well known car that I need permission to talk about. I will post pics after, the car is amazing!

Well Bonderson is easy access and handy most of the time. I use the materials lab for hardness testing and alloy metals analysis. The Aero is sometimes difficult to get into as a mechanical or civil engineer but you can choose projects that will permit your presence if you know what I mean:) Their jet propulsion labs are very cool! If only they had a full scale wind tunnel I would prolong my education forever.

I take it you are familiar with Cal Poly?;)

Flieger 01-11-2010 07:36 PM

I am an ME sophmore who is enrolled in ME240 (amongst my real classes) so I have access to the shops. I have only my "red tag" at the aero hangar. I am in Cerro Vista on campus so I am quite flexible here.

I am coming home to Thousand Oaks for the long weekend so I would be available to meet you while you are down there. I have good relationships with three of the best shops in the area so I have a few ideas where you might be going.

I have not been in the Aero Engineering Building (-5?-) but I thought their scale tunnel was good- for a bundle of straws.;)

NoEardGoat 01-12-2010 01:22 AM

Clint,

If you need more lab access PM me. I may be able to help out. A friend of mine runs IT's metals lab at Cal Poly.

gestalt1 04-16-2010 04:50 PM

sorry to revive this thread with a slightly negative tone. i sent my struts to be modified over a month ago and have not heard from Clint. i can't leave voicemail because it is full and he has not responded to 2 separate e-mails. does anyone have another way of reaching him? i need my struts in 2 weeks because i need to move my car. i know Clint is a stand up guy but when you run a business providing products and services and you need to treat your customers better.

Flieger 04-16-2010 04:57 PM

I know how you feel. I cannot call him either. You have to call alot and hope he calls back.

Next time I go over to see him I will relay the message. Certainly on Friday, maybe Monday. He has class Tuesday Thursday and this past Wednesday he was doing taxes and writing a lab report, so he has alot on his plate.

I saw several sets of very nicely braced, raised struts drying after paint when I was there a couple days ago. Alot of the back-up is in orders of materials/hardware and then the machine shop time.

juicersr 04-17-2010 03:24 AM

Gestalt, for better or worse, those of us who have dealt with Clint have all been in your shoes. The only consolation is that you will get your stuff, and it will be awesome. I had heard these stories and budgeted extra time to have my suspension stuff back, taking the time to fix other stuff on the car that needed it anyway.

Max, since u live so close to Clint, how about becoming the unofficial Pelican liason to Rebel racing allowing guys like Gestalt and others find out where things are? Sounds like the Clint could use an assistant such as this.

gestalt1 04-17-2010 07:00 AM

i really appreciate the support for Clint and i'm sure things will work out fine. it just really gets to me when it is so easy to respond to an email or clear out your voicemail. i do not think it is nessesary for Max to represent Clint because Clint just needs to make a little better effort to communicate. it would really suck if customers start giving up on Clint because of a simple communication problem.

N11Porsche 04-17-2010 07:51 AM

School or whatever else Clint has going on, is no excuse for poor communications. We are all busy with our lives. He could clear out his emails & phone messages in probably, 30 minutes, at the end of each day. He chooses not to. His choice, but there are plenty of people that sell p-car parts, I would look for another vendor, myself. IMHO
