ID the 1972 factory chassis stamped.
Hi guys
It's the vin fro the 1972 coupe US spec. There's the brush stroke in black paint around it. Was this done from the factory or it was recreated? Thanks Burint ![]()

Go over to the Early 911S Registry BBS. You will fund a ton of threads on determining if a VIN is ok or not.

If your question is whether or not someone at the factory painted the black paint on, and around, the serial number stamp, then I can tell you they did that. I have no idea why.

You need to remember that the body shells were painted first, then stamped with the VIN in an unpainted rectangle. The black brush mark was to provide some rust protection over an unpainted surface. Is that 9112101306 I read there?
