Going Crazy trying to remove center vent
Have a new dash coming and need to remove dash as much as possible before window comes out. Ive been at this vent for two hours and have destroyed all my credit cards!!!. It doesnt have the side clips Ive been told are on the 85. It appears to have two on the top and two on the bottom. Even with four credit cards in there it wont budge. Anyone have sucess with this before I break something? thanks Doughttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1248645911.jpg

I hate to tell you this but I had to go in from the trunk, removing all ducts, grill and blower to gain access from the rear of the vent to lightly bend the tabs and then push out.

I use 2 putty knives, one cut with a hook on it to catch the tabs.
Make sure you slip the putty knife under the metal plate and vent Becareful not to slip and cut your dash. Nice DIY Tool, but when you place it back in. How do you keep the air tube from moving for a snug fit?
This is why I went in from the trunk. I tried to go thru the clock whole but impossible to get a snug fit. |
Yes, I go thru the clock hole. I put the vent partially in first then reach in and wiggle it on while pushing the vent in slowly. You can also lube the rubber seal to make it slip on easier.
