New Motec product to replace fuses and relays
I just read about this new Motec device. It replaces most if not all of the cars fuses and relays. The PDM15 has 15 circuits and the PDM30 has 30. Something to think about for those that burn up a wiring harness and need to start over again.
http://www.motec.com.au/pdm15/pdm15overview/ Every circuit is programmable so you can tell it how much current to supply to each circuit. In addition, it can have paralllel circuits so you can combine 3 - 20 amps to a single 60 amp circuit. Also, it data logs everything so you can see exactly how much current each circuit is using. That makes finding battery killing circuits very quick and easy! I guess it also can be viewed as a weight saver too. All of those fuses and relays add up. It is expensive though. The PDM15 is AUD1850 or $1500. Plus whatever additional wiring you need to get the thing installed and working. I'm not sure what happens if you "blow a fuse" with this thing though. From the sounds of it, if you can figure out why the circuit is shorted out and fix the problem, it will automatically reconnect the power to that circuit.
