911 History - Whats a TV-E with a 2.3L?

Hey All,

Just doing a bit of a check on my 73 911 and came up with:

1973 TV-E
2.3ltr Carby 130hp
Serpia Brown
Delivered to the UK
Options: Sunroof, Tinted Glass.

The local guys here (Aust) have never heard of a TV-E or a 2.3L Carby motor???

Is anyone able to fill in the gaps??

Thanks in advance!!

what are the VIN and engine numbers? that should confirm you have a 1973 911T.

a 73T was delivered with a 2341cc motor with carbs. porsche round 2341 up and call it 2.4 litres but someone being accurate could have referred to it as a 2.3 litre

E is the correct series designation for 1973.

i have seen the TV thing before but can't quite remember what it means. i think it has something to do with how it was delivered.

ps. sepia brown is a cool colour. has it survived without being repainted red?

found it -> 911TV-E is the engine type for a sportomatic.

is the car manual or sporto?

ps. if you ring porsche cars australia with the VIN they can confirm all this type of stuff.

Thanks for that.. Yeah the info I posted was from Porsche Australia..

The guy I got it through just raised the question about the 2.3Ltr.. (so did the guy from Porsche!) which is why I thought I'd ask here..

I know they rounded up to 2.4L and the E being Carby.. Just would have thought that the two guys I went through would be used to rounding up, or used to them being called a 2.3ltr even though they are tagged a 2.4L thats all....

Nope! It now has a 915 in it and is silver..

(also for sale on CarSales!)

TV-E was the designation of the euro 911 on Zenith carbs when USA had gone to MFI and then CIS in 72 and 73.
