Do I need a hood latch with rubber tie-downs?
Question: If I'm going to use RS/RSR-style rubber hood tie downs as shown in the pic below, do I even need to install a regular hood latch? I'd prefer not if I don't have to. Will the rubber tie-downs secure the hood enough by themselves during driving?

Some suggest using the hood latch to ensure the hood doesn't let loose if the strap fails.

I have been using the rubber latches for 8+ years on my 911 racecar that sees speeds over 130mph. I do not have the latch installed.

Isnt the point of the rubber hold downs to aleviate the weight of the hood latch and mechanism.....

I left the latch on mine. I figure a little more weight in front is worth the peace of mind.
