Remove polishing residue from plastic trim
I did a bit of colour sanding and polishing on my hood today and, like an idiot, forgot to mask off the smile. Now, there's some compound fling off on/in the plastic and it won't wash off, even with some persuasion from a tooth brush.
What might be a good way to remove the polishing compound residue from textured plastic or rubber parts?

It may sound stupid, but rub some peanut butter on it.

+1 on the Griots product. I picked up a bottle a couple of weeks ago and it works great. I applied it and let it sit for a few seconds, agitated it with a toothbrush and wiped it off.

Hands down WD-40 and there is no worry of any damage.

I was unable to find the Griots product at my local auto store. I was able to get polish off my smile with dish wash detergent (Dawn) and a scrub brush.
